Reports suggest that key fast bowler Mohammad Shami might miss the first couple of matches in the upcoming five-Test series against England, starting from January 25. He hasn’t started bowling yet due to an ankle injury. The pacer will first have to prove his fitness at the National Cricket Academy.
Mohammad Shami was in the Test squad against South Africa. However, his fitness wasn’t confirmed by the Medical Team at the time. As a result, he was ruled out of the two Test series. Additionally, Suryakumar Yadav, a top T20 batter, is facing a hernia issue and will undergo surgery. Specialists are being consulted, and he might need to go abroad for the procedure. It’s anticipated he’ll be fully recovered in time for the IPL.
Considering the availability of other fast bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah for the England Test series, the BCCI might adopt a cautious approach in reintroducing Shami to the team.
