IPL 2024: SRH score highest IPL total to beat MI by 31 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad handed Mumbai Indians a 31-run defeat in a high-scoring IPL 2024 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Heinrich Klassen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head played outstanding innings, leading SRH to a record-breaking total of 277/3. This was the highest ever team score in IPL history. Klassen remained unbeaten on 80 off 34 balls and looks set to make a name for himself in IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians struggled to contain SRH’s batters, with their bowlers conceding too many short balls and extras. Despite a fine knock from Tilak Varma who scored 64 off 34 balls, MI fell short of the mammoth target, managing 246/5 in their chase.

Head began his onslaught with a quickfire 62. Then, Abhishek smashed the fastest fifty in the competition off just 16 deliveries. Klassen joined him in getting the boundaries, contributing to SRH’s massive total.

In reply, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided a strong start for MI, but wickets fell at crucial moments. Tilak continued the fight, reaching his fifty in 24 balls. However, SRH’s bowlers, especially Shahbaz Ahmed and Pat Cummins, slowed down the scoring in the middle overs as SRH claimed a famous victory.

Despite Hardik Pandya’s efforts towards the end, MI couldn’t keep up with the required run rate. The IPL 2024 match witnessed a record-breaking total of 523 runs collectively and the most sixes (38) ever hit in a T20 game. SRH’s dominant performance was aided by MI’s poor bowling, making this a match to remember.
