Khaleel took 2-21 while Mukesh Kumar finished with figures of 3-21. The two restricted CSK to 171/6 in 20 overs, after a quickfire 37 not out in 16 balls by MS Dhoni.

Led by Pant who has made a comeback after a long break following injuries sustained in a car accident, DC chose to bat first and scored 191/5 in 20 overs. After a great start by Warner and Pant, Prithvi Shaw contributed with 43 off only 27 balls.

In reply, CSK struggled, losing early wickets. Khaleel got rid of the openers, reducing them to 7/2 in the first six overs. Mukesh Kumar then took three crucial wickets, including one off a brilliant slower ball to dismiss Ajinkya Rahane. CSK’s hopes rested briefly on Rahane and Daryl Mitchell’s partnership, but it wasn’t enough.

Despite a late assault by Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, CSK fell short, finishing at 171/6. Dhoni’s 37 off 16 balls was not enough to win the match. With this win, Delhi Capitals have bounced back in the tournament after two losses. Meanwhile, CSK suffered their first IPL 2024 defeat at home after two wins.
