The upcoming auction for the IPL 2024 in Dubai on December 19 will see some star players up for sale. These players include Harry Bosch from England, Travis Head from Australia, Rilee Rossouw from South Africa. Meanwhile, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, India’s Shardul Thakur, and England’s Chris Woakes have set their base price at Rs 2 crore, which is the highest price.

Out of these 23 top-priced players, 20 are from other countries. Three are from India, including Harshal Patel and Umesh Yadav. The full list of players entering the auction was revealed by the BCCI Honorary Secretary Jay Shah. This list includes a total of 333 players who will be part of the auction in Dubai. Among them, 214 are Indian players, and 119 are international players, with two coming from associate nations.
Among these players, 116 have already played for their national teams, while 215 are yet to get that chance. They are competing for 77 available spots, with up to 30 positions for overseas players. While 23 players have set their base price at INR 2 crore, 13 have set theirs at INR 1.5 crore.

Some familiar faces in the auction include Rovman Powell, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, among others. Young talents like Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand and Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, who recently shined in the ODI World Cup 2023, have set their base price at Rs 50 lakh.
The BCCI also mentioned that the IPL franchises have retained 173 players, including 50 foreign players, for the 2024 edition. They have spent a total of Rs 737.05 crore on these retained players. Most franchises have kept around 17 to 19 players, while Kolkata Knight Riders retained 13 players and have 12 spots to fill in the auction, with a total salary cap of 38.15 crore, the highest among all teams.

Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained 16 and 19 players respectively. They have some available slots and salary caps for the auction. Overall, the franchises have a total salary cap of Rs 262.95 crore to spend in the auction.
Meanwhile, some well-known players like Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root from England are not part of this auction as they are recuperating from injuries or other reasons.
