Uganda have qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024, joining Namibia. This marks their debut in any ICC senior men’s World Cup event.
During the last matches in the African leg of the T20 World Cup 2024 qualifiers, Uganda defeated Rwanda, securing their spot as only the fifth African nation to enter the shorter format of the ICC World Cup. However, Zimbabwe missed out despite initially looking set to win against Nigeria.

In their journey to qualify, Uganda comfortably defeated Tanzania in their first match but faced a defeat against Namibia due to a fantastic performance by David Wiese, the Namibian all-rounder.
However, Uganda made a comeback by beating Test-playing Zimbabwe, led by a strong bowling display from Dinesh Nakrani. Riazat Ali Shah and Alpesh Ramjani contributed with their batting skills in this victory.
Building on their success, Uganda defeated Nigeria and Kenya with ease, culminating in a significant win over Rwanda. Their superb bowling restricted Rwanda to a low score of 65 runs, which Uganda chased down in just 8.1 overs.

Zimbabwe lost to Namibia and Uganda in the Africa qualifier, missing out on qualifying for the T20 World Cup 2024. They had previously failed to secure top-two positions in the 2019 and 2023 ODI World Cup qualifiers, thus missing out on the main tournaments held in England and India.
