Nepal and Oman qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after winning their respective semifinals in the Asia qualifiers. Nepal and Oman will now face each other in the final on Sunday.
Oman defeated Bahrain by 10 wickets in the first semifinal, with Aqib Ilyas taking 4-10 to restrict Bahrain to 106/9. Openers Kashyap Prajapati (57*) and Pratik Athavale (50*) chased the target with 34 balls to spare. This will be Oman’s third T20 World Cup appearance.

In the other semifinal, Nepal defeated UAE by eight wickets. Spinners Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane played a key role in keeping UAE to 134/9. Aasif Sheikh (64 not out) and Vriitya Aravind (64) led Nepal to victory with 17 balls remaining.
The T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 20 teams divided into four groups in the first round. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage and will be split into two groups of four. The top two sides from each Super Eight group will enter the semi-finals.

Nepal and Oman join other qualified teams, including hosts West Indies and USA, Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Canada earned their spots through regional qualifiers. The last two spots for the tournament will be determined by the Africa Qualifiers to be held from November 22 to 30 in Namibia.
The tournament will be hosted in various locations. West Indies, a two-time winner of the ICC T20 World Cup, will host the tournament for the ninth edition, while the USA will host an ICC tournament for the first time. Both countries were awarded joint hosting rights in 2021.
