Namibia secure berth in ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Namibia secured their place in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA by defeating Tanzania by 58 runs. With this, the African nation added to their already impressive run during the qualifying tournament.

Having won all five of their games, Namibia have maintained a flawless record, securing a berth in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Eagles currently lead the table with 10 points. Their win over Tanzania guaranteed them a top-two position, meeting the qualification criteria for the prestigious event next year,.

The competition remains intense for the remaining slot, with Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria still contending. Uganda and Kenya have control over their fate, while Zimbabwe and Nigeria rely on favorable outcomes in other matches.

The upcoming match between Uganda and Kenya holds great significance as it’s a decisive encounter determining their fate. Unfortunately, Tanzania and Rwanda have already been eliminated from the competition.

This will mark Namibia’s third consecutive appearance in the Men’s T20 World Cup. They managed to progress to the Super 12 stage in 2021 by securing the second spot in the group stage but couldn’t replicate the feat last year.

Namibia had defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets and Uganda by 6 wickets. Before that, they beat Rwanda by 68 runs, Kenya by 6 wickets, and Tanzania by 58 runs. The African side have had a terrific run in the qualifiers so far and will look to maintain their form.
