Guendouzi scored in the fifth minute of the game. Luca Pellegrini regained possession of the ball and swiftly moved down the left side, delivering a precise pass for Guendouzi, who fired a shot into the far bottom corner of the goal. Guendouzi had joined Lazio on loan from Marseille just before the transfer deadline in August.
Genoa’s Mateo Retegui had some close chances to equalize, with one particular opportunity that had an Italy forward applauding Lazio defender Mario Gila for blocking the shot from close range.
However, Lazio managed to hold on to their lead, securing the Italian Cup win. They have potentially set up a clash against Roma if Jose Mourinho’s team defeats Cremonese in the following month.
