Vlahovic helps Juventus salvage 1-1 draw against Bologna in Serie A

Juventus were forced to rely on a late goal from Dusan Vlahovic to salvage a 1-1 draw against Bologna in Serie A. Lewis Ferguson had given Bologna the advantage in the 24th minute. However, Vlahovic, who had a goal disallowed for offside earlier, managed to head in the equaliser with just 10 minutes left.

Also, reigning champions Napoli registered their second consecutive victory. They snatched a 2-0 win over 10-man Sassuolo. Meanwhile, Lazio, last season’s runner-up, suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Genoa.

After a challenging previous season, Juventus had begun the new campaign with a convincing 3-0 win against Udinese. This match posed another test for Bologna, which had been defeated by AC Milan in its opening game.

Bologna took the lead when Joshua Zirkzee attracted two defenders and managed to push the ball forward to Ferguson, who had ample time to control it and send a shot into the far bottom corner of the net.

In the second half, Juventus appeared to show more energy and momentum. They thought they had taken the lead seven minutes into the half, but Vlahovic’s goal was ruled out due to Adrien Rabiot being in an offside position.

Bologna believed they should have been awarded a penalty in the 70th minute when their forward Dan Ndoye collided with Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior. However, the referee dismissed their protests. Thiago Motta, Bologna’s coach, received a yellow card for expressing his dissent.

Iling-Junior helped his side level scores 10 minutes later, delivering a cross from the right for Vlahovic to head into the bottom right corner of the net.
