Inter, Juventus register convincing Serie A victories

A powerful header by Marcus Thuram, fed by Federico Dimarco’s cross near the far post, was a major highlight of Inter Milan’s convincing 4-0 Serie A win over Fiorentina. The result extended Inter’s perfect start to the season.

Thuram, who played a crucial role in both goals in their 2-0 win against Cagliari on Monday, also assisted Lautaro Martinez for Inter’s second goal and drew the penalty that Hakan Calhanoglu converted for the third. Lautaro scored another goal with a deft touch from a free-kick by Juan Cuadrado, bringing his season total to five, leading the league in goals.

Inter has now won all three of its matches this season, matching city rivals AC Milan’s perfect start, and they are set to clash in the Milan derby on September 16 after the international break. This marks the first time since 1966 that Inter has started with three straight wins and three consecutive clean sheets.

Juventus and Lecce, with victories over Empoli and Salernitana respectively, are both two points behind the league leaders. Thuram, who joined Inter on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, has seamlessly replaced the departed Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko as Lautaro’s strike partner. Fiorentina, despite their recent qualification for the Conference League group stage, posed little threat.

In another match, Juventus won 2-0 against Empoli, with goals from Danilo and Federico Chiesa. Danilo scored by prodding the ball into the net following a corner, while Chiesa sealed the victory by getting around the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into an empty net.

Meanwhile, Lecce continued their unbeaten run this season with a 2-0 win over Salernitana, with Nikola Krstovic scoring a glancing header and Gabriel Strefezza adding another in added time.

Also, Torino secured a 1-0 victory over Genoa with Nemanja Radonjic scoring a solo effort in stoppage time.
