Paris Saint-Germain have accepted a world-record bid of £259 million from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal for star attacker Kylian Mbappe. Reports indicate that Al Hilal has been granted permission to enter into negotiations with Mbappe after making the unprecedented £259 million offer.

It’s worth noting that the current world transfer record stands at £200 million, which PSG paid to acquire Brazilian star Neymar from Barcelona in August 2017. Kylian Mbappe, the 24-year-old French captain, still has one year left on his contract with PSG. However, he has shown no interest in extending his stay with the club and reportedly prefers a move to Real Madrid.

This desire to join the Spanish giants has caused tension between the French forward and his current club. PSG has taken precautionary measures to avoid losing Mbappe on a free transfer and has thus decided to put him up for sale. Their goal is recovering the approximately £150 million they invested in his permanent transfer from Monaco in 2018.

Recently, Mbappe was excluded from PSG’s squad for the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, further indicating his intentions to pursue a move away from the club. According to various reports, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Barcelona have all expressed their interest in acquiring Mbappe’s services.
