The 57th match of the IPL 2023 will be played on May 12 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Mumbai Indians are currently third in the points table with six wins in 11 matches. A win in this upcoming game would significantly improve their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.

The Gujarat Titans have been performing exceptionally well this season in IPL 2023. They have won eight of their 11 matches so far and lead the points table. A victory in their match against Mumbai would make them the first team to secure a place in the playoffs this year.

In their previous match against the Lucknow Super Giants, the Titans showed their batting prowess by scoring an imposing total of 227/2 in 20 overs. This was after a remarkable 142-run opening partnership between Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha. Lucknow could only manage 171/7 in their allotted 20 overs, losing by 56 runs. Mohit Sharma was the standout bowler for the Titans, taking four wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.

MI vs GT pitch report

The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai can be difficult for bowlers, and the ground’s small size makes it easy for batsmen to hit boundaries. In the previous match at this venue, the team batting second successfully chased down a target of over 200 runs with over three overs remaining.

MI vs GT prediction

With both team’s present form, the game could go either way. The team bowling first should have a better chance of winning considering the size of the ground and the challenge it poses to bowlers. Despite having the home advantage and making a strong comeback in the IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians will still have a tough time against Gujarat Titans. The latter’s consistent form throughout the two seasons since their debut is highly impressive.
