India-Pakistan 2023 ICC World Cup match rescheduled for October 14 in Ahmedabad

The highly-anticipated match between India and Pakistan at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to take place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, has been rescheduled by the International Cricket Council to October 14.

The adjustment was prompted by the initial news that the high-profile match had been moved up from its original date of October 15. The change was necessitated by Navaratri, a significant nine-day Hindu festival, coinciding with the original match date. The local police in Ahmedabad expressed concerns about ensuring adequate security on that particular day.

Alongside the rescheduling of the India-Pakistan match, modifications have been made to the schedule of eight other matches in the tournament, as per the latest updated schedule unveiled on Wednesday.

India’s final league match against the Netherlands, previously set as a day-night fixture to be played in Bengaluru on November 11, has now been shifted to November 12.

Due to the shift in the India-Pakistan game, the match between defending champions England and Afghanistan, initially planned for October 14 at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, will now be held 24 hours later on October 15.

The Pakistan-Sri Lanka clash scheduled to be played in Hyderabad on October 12 has been rescheduled to October 10. Additionally, the high-stakes contest between Australia and South Africa, initially slated for October 13 in Lucknow, has been postponed by a day and will now take place on October 12.

The match between New Zealand and Bangladesh, originally set for a day fixture on October 14 in Chennai, has been pushed back by a day to October 13, now designated as a day-night encounter. Moreover, the England-Bangladesh match in Dharamsala, previously planned as a day-night fixture on October 10, has been rescheduled as a day match with a 10:30 am start time.

Matches initially scheduled for November 12 have been moved forward to November 11:

– Australia vs. Bangladesh in Pune at 10:30 am.

– England vs. Pakistan in Kolkata at 2 pm.
