India remained unbeaten in the leagues stage of the ICC World Cup 2023 after a commanding 160-run win over the Netherlands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After batting brilliantly in the first innings to score 410, India’s bowlers restricted the Dutch to 250. Interestingly, Team India used Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma as bowlers. With this victory, India have extended their unbeaten streak to nine matches, surpassing their previous record of eight wins in the 2003 World Cup.

The initial breakthrough for India came from Mohammed Siraj, dismissing Wesley Barresi in just 1.3 overs for four runs, leaving the Netherlands at 5-1. At the end of the first powerplay in 10 overs, the Netherlands reached 62/1. Kuldeep Yadav claimed his first wicket by dismissing Colin Ackermann for 35 runs.
Jadeja contributed to India’s success by removing Max ODowd for 30 runs. The Dutch side reached the 100-run mark, but India continued to make inroads. Virat Kohli dismissed Dutch skipper Scott Edwards for 17.
Jasprit Bumrah took his first wicket by removing Bas de Leede for 12 runs. B this time, the Netherlands were reeling at 144/5. Then, Siraj dismissed Sybrand Engelbrecht for 45 runs. Despite reaching the 200-run mark in the 41st over, the Dutch kept losing wickets.

Kuldeep dismissed Logan van Beek, and Jadeja claimed his second wicket by dismissing Roelof van der Merwe. Bumrah and Rohit Sharma took the remaining wickets, bundling out the Netherlands for 236 runs in the 46.1 overs.
For India, Bumrah, Siraj, Yadav, and Jadeja each bagged two wickets. Kohli and Rohit contributed with one wicket each.
India’s top five fire again in ICC World Cup 2023
Earlier, Rohit and Gill formed a solid opening partnership, reaching 91/0 at the end of the first powerplay in 10 overs. The Men in Blue crossed the 100-run mark in just 11.4 overs and reached 150 runs in the 22nd over. Gill’s dismissal for 51 and Rohit’s departure for 61 runs set the stage for Virat Kohli.
Kohli scored a brisk 51 runs before being dismissed with India at 200/3. In the second powerplay after 40 overs, India scored 193 runs, losing three wickets.

The hosts crossed the 300-run mark in the 42nd over and reached 400 runs in just 49.2 overs. KL Rahul’s century off only 62 balls was a World Cup record for the fastest century by an Indian. India eventually posted 410/4, with de Leede removing Rahul for 102. Thus, India continued their dominant batting performance in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Despite taking a couple of wickets, the Netherlands’ bowling performance was overshadowed by India’s dominant batting display. Logan van Beek was expensive, conceding 107 runs in his 10-over spell. Bas de Leede picked up two wickets, while Paul van Meekeren and Roelof van der Merwe claimed one wicket each.
