India defeated England by 100 runs at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, extending their unbeaten streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
India’s bowlers consistently troubled the English batters by finding the edges. Ben Stokes attempted to hit Mohammed Shami down the ground but lost his wicket. England’s woes continued as Jonny Bairstow got an inside edge on his pads while trying to cut Shami, but his stumps were shattered.

England’s predicament worsened as Kuldeep bowled a delivery that turned, leaving Buttler’s stumps in disarray. Shami returned in the 24th over and swiftly got Moeen Ali caught behind by Rahul.

England managed to break through in the fourth over when Chris Woakes bowled Shubman Gill with a nip-backer through the gate. With the bowlers getting some seam movement on a tricky pitch, England kept Virat Kohli under sustained pressure, resulting in him being dismissed for a duck, his first in World Cups.
India’s troubles continued as Woakes hurried Shreyas Iyer with a short ball, leading to a top edge and a catch. Rohit began hitting boundaries, including a drive through cover off Adil Rashid. After reaching his third half-century of the World Cup, he shifted hit a six off Mark Wood.

Rahul capitalised on Liam Livingstone’s introduction, gathering boundaries. Suryakumar joined in with some fine shots. Their partnership ended in the 31st over when Rahul mistimed a shot, offering a simple catch to mid-on.
Suryakumar continued to score with well-placed drives, pulls, and sweeps. Rohit’s innings concluded in the 39th over when he attempted a slog against Rashid’s googly and was caught in deep mid-wicket.
Rashid returned to dismiss Jadeja lbw, and Wood had Shami caught behind. Suryakumar helped India reach 200 with a sweep off Rashid.

In the 47th over, SKY tried to play over cover but was caught at deep point. Bumrah and Kuldeep added 21 runs for the ninth wicket, before the former was run out on the final ball of the innings.
