Manchester City defeat Everton 3-1 in Premier League

Manchester City fought back strongly in the second half and won 3-1 against Everton at Goodison Park. Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva scored for Man City, moving them into the top four. They are now five points behind leaders Liverpool, with a match in hand.

City, returning to domestic play after winning the FIFA Club World Cup, were losing at halftime due to Jack Harrison’s goal. Harrison almost scored again, but his shot was stopped by Ederson. For City, John Stones suffered an injury and was replaced by Josko Gvardiol.

But things changed in the second half. Foden scored a fantastic long-range shot, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 53rd minute. Alvarez then converted a penalty after a handball by Amadou Onana in the box, putting Manchester City in the lead in the 64th minute.

Bernardo Silva secured the win by scoring in the 86th minute after taking advantage of a mistake by Pickford. Although Foden hit the post with a superb shot in stoppage time, City claimed victory, securing fourth place with 37 points. Everton remain in 17th position with 16 points, just one point above Luton Town.
