Aston Villa stun Manchester City 1-0 in English Premier League

Aston Villa secured a surprise 1-0 win over an out-of-form Manchester City to move third in the English Premier League. Leon Bailey scored the lone goal after making a run from the halfway line and firing a shot past the City defense into the net. Villa could have scored more against a struggling Manchester City defence.

In another game, Manchester United claimed a 2-1 victory over Chelsea, with Scott McTominay scoring twice. McTominay’s first goal came from a blocked shot by Harry Maguire, and although Cole Palmer equalized for Chelsea, McTominay netted the winner from a corner.

Sheffield United, despite an improved performance under new coach Chris Wilder, couldn’t secure points against Liverpool. Virgil Van Dijk’s goal from a corner kept Liverpool in second place, sealing their win with Dominik Szoboszlai’s late goal.

Brighton recovered quickly after conceding a penalty to Bryan Mbeumo, eventually winning 2-1. Pascal Gross and Jack Hinshelwood scored to overturn the scoreline in their favor.

Bournemouth continued their resurgence, clinching a 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace with goals from Marcos Senesi and Kieffer Moore.

In another English Premier League game, Fulham hammered Nottingham Forest 5-0. Nottingham’s coach Steve Cooper’s job now appears to be in jeopardy. Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez scored twice, with Tom Cairney adding the final goal.

Currently, Arsenal sit at the top of the English Premier League table with 36 points from 15 games. Liverpool (34) are second and Aston Villa (32) third. Manchester City (30) are currently fourth in the standings, while Tottenham (27) are placed fifth. Meanwhile, Manchester United are sixth. They, too, have 27 points, but are behind Tottenham on goal difference.
