Manchester United have won the Carabao Cup and also have an FA Cup semi-final around the corner later this month. Now, their European trophy hunt continues at Old Trafford when they take on Spanish side Sevilla. However, they are yet to beat Sevilla in European competition, and have only managed one draw in a Champions League last 16 game, which was in 2017/18. They also lost in the Europa League semi-final back in 2020.
Sevilla come into this match with lesser pressure, considering they’re not playing at home and United’s somewhat shaky nature. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side will look to add some shine to what has been a fairly lacklustre season for them, considering they are 13th in the La Liga and only remain five points above the relegation zone.

Manchester United–Sevilla
Jose Luis Mendilibar is already the third manager of the club this season, following Julen Lopetegui and Jorge Sampaoli. Sevilla are13th in La Liga, only five points off the relegation zone. The fact that they are now in the Champions League quarterfinal should give them good reason to come back hard and make amends for what has been a rather poor showing in their domestic league.
However, playing at home, Manchester United will not be easy to get past, even though there’s no Marcus Rashford. However, there will be heavy reliance on the experienced Bruno Fernandes to deliver.
