City successfully maintained their lead in the Champions League final, creating history. They recently surpassed Arsenal to retain the Premier League title and defeated Manchester United to win the FA Cup. This win allowed them to match the achievement of their local rivals’ treble in 1999. City also became only the 10th team ever to complete the treble.

Rodri scored the decisive goal in the second half with a well-placed finish from the edge of the penalty box. The win also fulfilled manager Pep Guardiola’s wish to win the Champions League.

Although City entered the Champions League final as favourites, Inter Milan provided a tough challenge. Inter came close to equalising on two occasions, hitting the crossbar and being denied by goalkeeper Ederson’s remarkable save. However, City held on to secure the victory, allowing Guardiola to celebrate another prestigious title.

Throughout the match, City faced resistance by their Italian opponents who posed threats during attack. Manchester City’s key player Kevin De Bruyne had to leave the field due to a leg injury. But his replacement, Phil Foden, showed good form.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Rodri found the back of the net from the penalty box, capitalising on Bernardo Silva’s assist. The goal proved to be the winner as Inter Milan failed to respond.

With this Champions League final win, Guardiola’s success with Manchester City now includes 12 trophies since his arrival in 2016. The Champions League triumph erases any lingering doubts about City’s status among European football’s elite clubs. While the club still faces financial regulation issues, their fans were jubilant, focusing solely on celebrating the team’s first European trophy in over five decades.
