Leipzig orchestrated a remarkable turnaround by scoring five times in the second half. This came after trailing Stuttgart by a goal. As a result, they finished the match 5-1, marking their inaugural Bundesliga win of the season.

The goals from Benjamin Henrichs, Dani Olmo, Lois Openda, Kevin Kampl, and Xavi Simons all materialized in the aftermath of Stuttgart’s disappointment for not receiving a penalty in the closing moments of the first half.
Despite the fact that Serhou Guirassy initially put Stuttgart in the lead in the 35th minute, the tables turned when Guirassy brought down Leipzig’s captain Willi Orban from behind after being pushed by Yussuf Poulsen. However, referee Frank Willenborg ruled in favour of a free kick for the foul committed by the Leipzig forward. The verdict was upheld following a video review.

An animated response by Leipzig coach Marco Rose led to him being booked. Even as he exited through the players’ tunnel, he continued to express his frustration.
Stuttgart’s goalkeeper, Alexander Nubel, who had a strong first half after joining on loan from Bayern Munich during the off season, experienced a forgettable second half.

Nubel’s attempted clearance was intercepted by Henrichs, resulting in a 61st minute equaliser. In the following minutes, another error led to Openda scoring a goal. However, it was disallowed by VAR due to an offside. Despite this temporary respite for Stuttgart, Olmo seized the opportunity to put Leipzig ahead in the 63rd minute, after which the home team gained momentum.
Leipzig, having secured the third position last season, commenced the league with a 3-2 loss against Bayer Leverkusen the previous weekend. In contrast, Stuttgart kicked off their season with an impressive 5-0 win over Bochum.
