Stokes had a successful IPL 2023 season with CSK but chose not to join for the upcoming season to prioritize his fitness and international commitments with England.

Back in 2017, Stokes made a big entry into the IPL with Rising Supergiant for a whopping INR 14.5 crore. He became the most expensive foreign player at that time. Stokes got off to an impressive start, scoring 316 runs in 12 matches during his debut season. He also had a highly impressive strike rate of 142.98.

In his IPL career spanning 45 matches, Stokes scored 935 runs and took 28 wickets. Unfortunately, he could only play two matches in the last season due to a knee injury. The injury was aggravated during England’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year.

Throughout his IPL career comprising 45 matches, Stokes managed to score 935 runs and take 28 wickets. However, his knee problem limited his appearances in the last season to just two matches. Recently, after returning from ODI retirement to compete in the World Cup held in India, Stokes emerged as one of England’s top-performing batters despite the team’s struggles.

Stokes participated in six out of England’s nine games in the tournament, sitting out the initial three matches due to a minor hip problem. Despite not bowling during the World Cup, he ended as the second-highest run-scorer for England, trailing Dawid Malan. Stokes accumulated 304 runs in six innings, securing two half-centuries and a century, with an average of 50.66 and a strike rate of 89.14.

Stokes looks to join the team for the upcoming five-Test series in India, scheduled from January 25 to March 11. Reports have suggested that Chennai Super Kings might consider recruiting New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell as a replacement in IPL 2024.
