India senior men’s football squad for Asia Games announced

India’s senior men’s team head coach Igor Stimac revealed a 22-member squad for the 19th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 19 to October 7. In the football event, India will compete in Group A alongside hosts China PR, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

The participating teams have been divided into six groups, with Groups A, B, C, E, and F having four teams each, and Group D comprising three teams.

This will be India’s first appearance in the football event of the Asian Games in nine years. Having won the Asian Games twice before, the Indian team is eager to showcase their talent and compete in the continental games once again.

It should be noted that the Indian football team has had a successful run of late, climbing to 99 in the FIFA rankings.
